The Public Program The Sea of Intelligence. Dialogues opens with a special event realized as part of the partnership between the Italian Pavilion and Banca Ifis:
The Earth Still Sings – performance & textile installation, a new textile work by artist Thomas De Falco, which initiates a dialogue between art, body, nature, and landscape.
The event is part of the Italian Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture, curated by Guendalina Salimei, and developed through the exhibition project Terrae Aquae. Italy and the Intelligence of the Sea.
Through a material and corporeal language, the work invites a profound reflection on the theme of freedom in the contemporary world and the primordial force of Mother Earth.
The textile sculptures, inspired by the imagery of the sea and the land, intertwine with the artist’s gestures and presence, giving shape to a sensitive landscape that connects the body to the natural environment.
The performance will be accompanied by the voice of art soprano Silvia Colombini, who will also play various musical instruments.
On the occasion of the event, Draco Piscis, a site-specific installation by Agnes Questionmark, will also be inaugurated. The work explores the relationship between human beings and the ocean not only as a resource, but as a space of coexistence, wonder, and discovery.
The installation is in direct dialogue with the themes of the Italian Pavilion and is further explored through videos and images presented in the exhibition space at the Arsenale.
